SOLD! Incisive Media New Proud Owners Of SES & ClickZ
Big news in the SEM industry today folks. Jupitermedia has sold it’s search engine marketing sites and trade shows for $43 million cash to Incisive Media. This includes our much loved SearchEngineWatch.com and ClickZ.com Network.
Forty-three million cash…………WHAT?! That is a crazy amount of money and again although I am trying to concentrate on the mangnitude of this transaction, I can’t help but let my mind wonder back to the amount on my last pay slip……………But hey, if I had $43 million, in cash of course, I think I would buy them too. I don’t have to reiterate how insiteful, and of course entertaining, SESNY was for both Nic and I, and I don’t think I have to recall for you how many times we have commented on a blog or posting of Danny Sullivan’s or Chris Sherman’s on NicNCher, these guys know their stuff, present it well, and deserve this great price tag. Although this money is going to Jupitermedia to expand on their Imaging business, and not directly to the SES and ClickZ staff, they deserve a lot of the credit.
What does this mean for the future of the ClickZ sites, SearchEngineWatch, and Search Engine Strategies? Danny Sullivan has posted a very brief blog in which he assures search marketing professionals that this acquisition is a good thing. Read his post here:
This is a very interesting event in search engine marketing and it seems that although not everyone has an opinion yet, everyone seems to be blogging about it. Witness the frenzy at Technorati
